Today blog on f1 and mercedes relation

Early Years (1930s & 1950s):

  • Before Formula 1 as we know it, Mercedes-Benz competed in Grand Prix racing during the 1930s, achieving significant success.
  • They entered the Formula 1 World Championship in 1954, winning their first race and securing two consecutive Drivers' Championships with Juan Manuel Fangio.
  • However, they withdrew from racing after the 1955 Le Mans disaster.

Return as an Engine Supplier (1990s - 2000s):

  • Mercedes returned to F1 in 1994 as an engine manufacturer in partnership with Ilmor, a British engineering company.
  • They achieved success with McLaren, winning several races and championships.
  • In 2005, Ilmor was rebranded as Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains.

Works Team (2010 - Present):

  • In 2010, Mercedes bought the Brawn GP team and rebranded it as Mercedes GP Petronas Formula One Team, marking their return as a works team.
  • The team struggled initially but found immense success with the introduction of new regulations in 2014, which favored their engine design.
  • Mercedes dominated the turbo-hybrid era, winning seven consecutive Drivers' Championships (2014-2020) and eight consecutive Constructors' Championships (2014-2021).

Key Partnerships:

  • McLaren: Mercedes had a long-term partnership with McLaren as an engine supplier, achieving significant success together.
  • Petronas: Petronas is the title and technical partner of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team, providing fluid technology solutions.
  • INEOS: INEOS, a global chemical company, became a one-third equal owner of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team alongside Mercedes-Benz and Toto Wolff.

Current Status:

  • The Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team continues to be a major force in Formula 1, though they have faced stiffer competition in recent years.
  • They are preparing for a new era in 2025, with Lewis Hamilton moving to Ferrari and other changes within the team.

Overall, Mercedes-Benz has had a profound impact on Formula 1, both as an engine supplier and a works team. They have been associated with some of the sport's greatest drivers and have achieved remarkable success over the decades
