Early Years (1930s & 1950s): Before Formula 1 as we know it, Mercedes-Benz competed in Grand Prix racing during the 1930s, achieving significant success. They entered the Formula 1 World Championship in 1954, winning their first race and securing two consecutive Drivers' Championships with Juan Manuel Fangio. However, they withdrew from racing after the 1955 Le Mans disaster. Return as an Engine Supplier (1990s - 2000s): Mercedes returned to F1 in 1994 as an engine manufacturer in partnership with Ilmor, a British engineering company. They achieved success with McLaren, winning several races and championships. In 2005, Ilmor was rebranded as Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains.
